Once a child reaches the adolosecence age, they don't want to listen to you talk about adolescence! That is usually a weird and uncomfortable stage in their life, and its hard enough for them just to have to experience it! I recommend that you take a Psych. class (i.e Life Span and Human development) to help you better understand what they are experiencing and how they feel!

Funny you should ask. This question has plagued many for years. I work as a therapist for adolescent boys. I find that they think we do not understand what is going on today, but they do listen. Often they can quote my sayings well after the event occurs. But do they take my advise. Sometimes yes and sometimes no. They like to take what I say, and apply their own principles to it. They like to think that they made the decision, and not me. I remember things my parents said earlier in life more now then when they told me years ago.

It depends on the adolescents. Some kids eat up whatever you tell them and want to know. Some are just so embarrassed!

It depends. Everyone is different. Some kids actually do listen, but others don't care and don't want to hear it.

No, they think adults have conspired to change their views and that they don't understand their generation. Which in most cases are true.
