Yes, slavery is compatible with the principles of the Declaration of Independence. It says that all men are created equal, so men cannot own other men. However, it says nothing about women being equal. Therefore, it is perfectly legitamate for men to enslave women or for women to enslave men, or, in fact, for women to enslave other women.

As long as it isn't men enslaving other men, it's perfectly compatible.

Yes!!! The original revolutionaries recognized the contradictions there but accepted it.

Some like Thomas Paine, did actually believe slavery was unjust.

Washington had slaves althought its said he freed his after he died.
