We were thinking about moving back but my service dog is a pit bull and I can't give him up.

Several metro-area cities have already enacted bans on pit bulls, including Liberty, Grandview, Kansas City, Kan., Prairie Village, Kan.,Independance, MO.,Sugar Creek,MO.,Overland Park,KS and Shawnee, Kan. Mission, Kan., has a ban on vicious animals, but it does not specify breeds. I don't know for sure about Kansas City, MO but I think you can have them if they are spayed or neutered.

There is a pit bull ban in Kansas City but if you move out of city limits they can't do anything about it. I would contact the humane society and talk to them about it. The number for the KC humane society is (913) 596-1000.

That is somewhat true, not entirely. Although not CITY WIDE. Certain townships are setting their own rules regarding ALL dogs, but the rules are based on the rash of violent pitbull attacks in the last year.
The best thing to do is to check the laws where you intend to live and make sure your dog is all legal and you should be cool. Alot of these rules/laws have been mentioned but have yet to pass and may not. However the penalties for dog attacks has already gotten more stiff for the owner - you can look at that however you want. If your dog isn't violent then you should have nothing to worry about!

their is a pit bull ban in kc. you would have to give it up if you live in the kc area. because if they catch you with one they will take it away and put it to sleep and you will be fined alot of money. you could move some places dont have the ban.

yes it's true they band pit bulls in K.C but it mite count if it is a service dog.

In parts of KC they are. But it def. not City Wide. I see them a lot when I am driving thro town. But yes... there are parts in KC that are
