because he is annoying and fans are tired of his ****, his gay mark messier leadership award and his assumption that he will be the next GM of the Rangers.
His career is over, he should get over it and stop trying to get publicity.
By the way Moose is Johan Hedberg's nickname, but I don't know it may be his too.

The complete answer to your question is.....The fans always affectionately called Messier the "MOOSE". The word moose can be mistaken for BOOO, To answer where the game was played. It was in Edmonton where they retired Messiers number 11 jersey and have it hanging in the rafters of Rexall place.

What do yankees know about hockey anyway? Messier is the original Moose, well at least he was known as the Moose long before Hedberg was. Oh and by the way he was one of the greatest players of all time - did you ever actually watch him play in his prime? Did you actually see him lead the Oilers to a completely unexpected cup without Gretzky? Did you see the way he almost single handedly gave NY a cup?
