Hey guys, I'm 15 turning 16 in June and I'm just wondering if I started piano too late. I know it's possible to get "good" at it, but if i practice an hour a day will I ever be as good as those who started when they were 5-10?

It's NEVER too late to learn!

As far as being as good as those who have started earlier in life, everyone has variances. Some people have natural or "God-given" talent and are great at what they choose to do. Others have to practice, practice, practice!

My advice - GO FOR IT!

I've been a pianist since I was seven years old; I'll be turning twenty in a few weeks. As a pianist, practice makes perfect. Practice. Practice. Practice. It's NEVER too late to start on anything, but it takes dedication and patience. If you like music and playing the piano, go for it! Dedicate yourself to practicing one hour (or more) a day, and you'll definately get improvement and succeed, and you'll probably be just as good as those who started in their childhood; it's not impossible. So, good luck, and happy playing. :)

It's never too late! Many musicians start late in their lives, so go for it! Don't compare yourself to others! (Those child prodigies kind of annoy me. The kids who are playing Mozart when there 5 and composing all ready.) Just have fun and remember that a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

No... 15 is definately not too late. The lady at my church - she plays beautifully - didn't even sit down at a piano for the first time till she was 60something. Go for it!

nope - but - it is never too late to learn
don't get discouraged - and practice -

$10,000 lesson - play it 5 times slow - for every time you play it at tempo

you are teaching your fingers where to go - and when you make a mistake - start the 5 times over again

learned this from my college teacher who had taught 20 years
at Julliard!

best of luck

It is never to late to do what you really want to do. so if you want to play piano go for it, you will get good the more you practice. good luck.

My sister in law started playing at 25, and she has an amazing talent for it.
I started voice lessons at 28, and am pretty darned good!

Go for it, and put in the practice and you will be as good as you want to be :)

it's never too late to do what you want with yourself. practice makes perfect. don't expect instant results but rather, know that you can do it and force yourself to improve. you'll be a teenage prodigy in no time!

I don't know about how good you'll be, but it's never too late to start. 90 isn't too late, unless you're dead.
