You can easily look at why China and Russia adopted Communism. Their nation had 99% surfs( low income, farmers, merchants..etc) and barely a middle class, while the other 1% had most of their nations wealth. The surfs obviously were tired of being poor so they revolted because communism theoretically creates equality between everyone and if you have no money that sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately the people who control the revolutions are usually power hungry and oppress the people even more.

Russia is now a cleptocracy(run by thieves)Communism does not work for many reasons. For one ,it is run from the top down.If it could be run from the bottom up ,it might have half a chance except that it goes against the nature of many people to share ,and it is a natural inclination to form hierarchies,so a classless society where all are treated equal becomes empty rhetoric. Also, and this is a big one .It cannot co-exist with a capitalist system.Capitalists have always known this and have fomented fear and paranoia about the term for over a hundred years ,so that many people cannot even rationally discuss it's ideas.Freedom is an empty word if the least empowered people in a nation are treated differently.Read "The Grapes Of Wrath"and tell me how the "Okies" are any different from the migrant workers who are doing the same work now. What has changed?

Russia is communist because of the Landowners and royalty of the past. They have a very long history and communism is better than what they came from. We however know a different life and this country will not see a communist state ever. You cannot take away freedom once it is ingrained in the hearts, souls and minds of a nation.

First off, Russia is not communism currently.
Historically, communism usually develops after the fall of capitalism... usually ending in a revolution of the masses. Capitalism always tends to breed greed in a society causing a larger and larger divide between the rich and the poor... eventually dissolving the middle class.
The ppl, or masses, begin to resent the rich that their labor makes rich. Long story short.... all this adds up to a revolution and turn to communism.
You can see history repeating itself even today here in the USA. In the 60s, the upper end of society made 12 dollars to a laborer's 1 dollar. Today that is 240 dollars to 1... JUST IN 40 years!!!! That's what happens when you deregulate corporations...= the greed of caplitalism kicks in and boom... here goes history repeating itself.

When wealth is concentrated in just a few powerful kings or czars, the people wil revolt and adopt communism so that they could avail of money and will be equal. This scenario happened in Russia and why they adopt communism.

Power hungry ideologues make wild promises to the poorest to foster revolutions so that they can take over. To maintain power they must kill and take away everything from the more competent citizen who would otherwise kick them out. It usually ends with mass slaughters and everybody being poorer than before except for those newly in power. They then must expend massive resources in keeping the masses under control and stopping them from escaping.
