is it plagerism to copy some definition and paste it for specific thing or noun? like If i find the definition of detabase online can I use exatly same words to answer in my school paper the definition of database? Thanks

I believe you can use it but you must quote the source.

You can easily cite where you found the definition, because, yes, it is plagiarism. Anytime you take and use anyone else's words as your own, you are practicing plagiarism. According to dictionary.com, plagiarism is defined as "the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work. It is not plaigerism as long as you cite your source so that it is known that you are not claiming the definition as your own.

My teachers have always told me that if you have to question it then you need to quote it. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Anytime you use something that isn't your words as if it were your words - it's plagiarism.
