I saw all of those new lotions with small amounts of self tanner in them and am very curious about them. I have fair skin and would use one specifically for fair skin but am worried my "tan" will really look fake. I'm also worried about uneven application and staining my palms. How different are these lotions from regular self tanners? I know the color darkens gradually rather than over night but will the "tan" look real?

I've used Jergen's. Your tan will develop within three days if you apply the tanning lotion everyday. I have fair skin and I used it on my legs. My tan looked pretty natural, but in my opinion it looked "orange-y" to some degree, but that's not too noticeable. If you're worried about uneven application, do apply it quickly, but make sure to not over-rub it because the lotion on your hand will dry out and will cause streaks. Just be sure to apply it quickly but still have a smooth silky feeling while rubbing it onto your skin. Practice makes perfect. Wash your hands immediately afterwards with soap to avoid staining. A little staining may occur, but that's inevitable. It'll go away within a day or so if you wash your hands every now and then with soap.

I am also fair skinned and I use the jergens one for fair skin, it is great. You dont really get "tan" I just got a nice healthy glow and an even looking skin tone. It looks really natural.

Yes, the Jergens one works pretty good, and it's great because when you get to the color you love, just stop applying it for a few days and you stay like that :)

When you bathe they wash off and streak.I don't like the look they leave. They will stain palms if you don't wash off immediately.
