I decided to go on birth control. But I don't know which one is better. Is there any negative side effects of each kind of contraceptive that you had?

A rule of thumb is: the less meds. you put in your body the better.
So, I would use contraceptives that don't interrupt your menstrual cycle. There is the Rhythm method, Condoms for both partners or Diaphragm (with spermicide) which don't compromise your body.

If you are looking to prevent pregnancy without any adverse side-effects then the sympto-thermal method of natural family planning is the way to go. You have to abstain during particular times of the month, but research has shown that natural methods that include periods of abstenence actually increase a couple's intimacy and "keep the spark going" so to speak.

My husband and I have enjoyed this method much more so than when we used pills or condoms. Many doctors and so called "experts" are ill-educated on natural methods. I even had one gyn tell me it wasn't a reliable way to stop pregnancy. That is false. When used appropriately, it is as effective as the pill (and a heck of a lot cheaper!) - without all the dangerous side effects.

Not all natural family planning groups are religious, so don't think you must have a particular belief to practice it. Search around if you are interested - you will probably at least have a couple to couple league that meets in your area and that can give you classes on the method. Just ignore the religious part if you don't care to view it from that perspective. You don't have to use religion to understand or use the method.

The risks of birth control pills are many and a lot of women don't like the way it makes them feel. For some women it complicates achieving future pregnancies as well. You have to ask yourself if its worth the risk.

congrats on making a good decision!! with that said, you really should talk to ur Dr. about this one. some may not be right for u. IUD is great but not given to those who are not married (usually) The pill is the most common i would think, although their are a lot of different kinds. Depo Provera is one to think about. it will take ur period away, but makes u gain weight (different in every person) so on and so fourth. talk to ur Dr.

I got an IUD before I was married, and loved it. They usually say you have to have at least one child to get an IUD.

Bayer Aspirin. Just place one aspirin between your knees before going out. Don't let the aspirin hit the floor. You can't get knocked up if you don't spread your legs.

Abstinence never fails to prevent pregnancy.
