Why do people spend more money on pets than they do to homeless people and charitable organizations?

Because they are more concerned about the family dog than a poor stranger.

As of 2000, roughly 50% of Americans believed that laziness was the main cause of poverty, so why would such people feel any remorse for failing to help those in need? A pet is helpless and needs care, but a person in poverty is able to support himself, just unwilling.

I don't agree with this attitude, but sadly it exists.

I wouldn't say I like animals better but the fact is domestic animals depend on our care and protection.

These people don't soothe me when I cry.

Many of the homeless are pedophiles.

The Humane Society is a charitable organization.

There are lots of people that don't own pets that could give to the those causes and don't.

Whether I fall in the above category, I can't say for sure. I've never calculated it.

Pets are God's creation , too.

Probably instant gratification. You send money to charitable organizations and dont see an immediate change. With a pet you can see where your money is going and how effective it is.

Usually people invest on their property.
Usually people consider the homeless as "others" that are so far away.

People consider pets as a part of their family and thus believe their pets are more important than another human life. Thats just the world we live in.

Because i like animals more than people.
Alot of homeless people bring it on themselves. Homeless animals are abandoned and abused and dont bring it on themselves.
