square with hip roof=best alternative for strength

look at the hurricane pictures - gable roofs fell like domino's with whole structure failures

radiant barrier - cool ply / polar ply / tech shield - in the south,
hot weather climates
ventilate your attic - hot or cold, once either get past the insulation, it does you no good
plan ahead, even if you can't afford it... if you want a floor plug, pipe & cap it , same for extra bath....
