A very good friend of mine used laser therapy for his smoking habit, and after all his laser therapy sessions (I believe he had 12 in all), he has been smoke free for over a year. He says that he never even has a craving anymore.
One side note, laser therapy can be rather costly (depending on what kind of budget you are living on). Laser therapy actually uses the same basic principles as accupuncture (as stated by the laser therapists themselves). Some insurance companies will cover accupunture, but not laser therapy. So if the laser therapy is too expensive, find a licensed accupuncturist who has good references to do therapy on you for your habit.

Yes! 3 of us went for laser the same day, 2 continued smoking, and I quit. That was 9 years ago. Sometimes it takes a few sessions, but in my case 1 was enough. It's painless, and very relaxing. I was genuinely fed up with smoking and really wanted to quit and maybe that's why it worked for me. It worked for my Father 8 years before I quit and he hounded me the whole time.
They recommend you take a lot of B vitamins to help you afterwards.

My guess is that the laser therapy helps by making you blind so that you can't find the cigarettes to smoke. ???
