What are some good clothing stores that suit a curvy figure?

ok, what you need to do is start buying clothes that fit the largest part of your body. for example, if you were buying pants, if they fit nicely over your hips, the waist would probably be too big right?
ok, buy them and go find a nice tailor, and they can take in the waist for you, and if they are good at their job, you wouldnt even know it had been taken in. I would try out the tailor by getting a cheaper pair of pants first.
This may seem like you would be spending alot of money, but they arent THAT expensive, and isn't it worth it to have clothes that fit you properly and feel good?
And remember, they can take in jackets and tops too.

Good luck and happy shopping!!!

I have that too. I find certain dresses look good they are the ones that are fitted at the top and then flair out. A Line dresses will look good on you. Things like dresses without a waist that are tube like or pencil skirts may not look good. You just have to try different things and see. I found that I did not like to wear shirts tucked in because I did not like the way it looks. I wear shirts and sweaters that are cut at the hip usually.
I would say it would not be a particular store you would use just styles. It depends on what size you wear. Old Navy online has a great deal of styles and has all sorts of sizes and petite and long lengths. You might want to try that.

I too have a hourglass/pear shape and find buying clothes, esp dresses, that will fit my hips and waist hard to find. I find that if I go to a Target or specialty 16+ size shop they cater for your shape with mix and match tops and bottoms, so that if you have a bigger bottoms and smaller top you can still buying a good outfit. I also look for bottoms that flatter my hips (smooth up top on waistband then flows from hips. For tops, go for flattering necklines that are feminine, such as v-necks, empire style, cowl necks, etc to ensure people aren't looking at your hips (your widest part). Nice soft sleeves and good fall from your bust are good if you want to hide a bit of tummy. For work go for tailored tops and pleated skirts and pants. Hope this helps. (from australia)

old navy, NY & Co. try on lots of things before you buy. that way, you won't need to return a lot of things. JCPenny's is good too.
