I'd go back 10 years and put a deposit down on a house.
Unfortunately you need a time machine and that knowledge (if possible at all) would probably be denied us.
I would do things differently if the future showed me I were heading in directions I didn't like because I would then have to with what I would know in advance.

My first answer was going to be "back to my very early twenties, or late teens", but then I read "on the wagon" and patrick d's answers, and even though on the wagon says the same thing I would've, he said for reasons better than I would have. It seems the older we get and the more reflective we get in our thinking, and hopefully the more mature we get, the more places in our lives we'd like to go back to in order to "improve" things for ourselves. But then, as my wife said to me more than once, "If you did things differently, then you wouldn't have met me, and we would have never been married." So, I guess, once I get past the emotional regrets part of my thinking, which I have plenty of, I have to look at what I have now: a loving wife and two wonderful kids and a great home, etc., and I figure I don't want to go back and change anything, except maybe to be more respectful to God and His ways. Then, and only then, would things have been much better. God Bless you.

actually i don't think i'd go back. i think everything happens for a reason and i've learned a lot from past experiences. there the reasons i am who i am today. i don't want to know what the future holds either, it would take all the excitement out of life. i'm just happy to live in the present. the past was, and the future could be, but the present is, so i'm gonna focus on that.

I would have done a different subject at university.
I've only just got onto a decent career path in the past three years, and this is because I allowed myself to be swayed by teachers into doing a "soft" course at uni instead of the "hard" course I wanted to do.
I do not regret this, but I do feel like my life might have taken a more fruitful course had i not made this decision

Probably, back to sixth grade. That is when things started to fall apart for me academically. I would have taken my studies more seriously and who knows where I would be right now. I would like to get an opportunity similar to "It's a wonderful life" so I can see what my life would be like if I were in some alternate reality. Then I would be able to make a more informed decision.

I would go back to last Tuesday when they drew the lottery. The knowledge i have today is of the winning numbers for that drawing, so i would be able to pick them and become rich.
