I just got my first speeding ticket at 4am on my way home, riverside, ca. the limit was 65 mph but i got clocked at 102 mph. I'm a starving student and I don't have a money to pay for it. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can go around to it? or maybe any suggestions to reduce my fine? any answer would be a big help. thanks.

Here's a great suggestion. First of all DON'T PAY IT. If you pay it will be added to your driving record and you'll get points taking away.

The best thing to do is: look around in your local area at some restaurants who set up the driving defensive class. You'll have to sit there for 4 to 6 hours and listen and watch videos on driving but in the long run if you take this class at your local restaurant, you can eat for free, you pay the person who is giving the class like 20 or 30 dollars and the whole ticket is dismissed and doesn't count against you. I would rather pay 20 -30 than 75 or more or whatever your ticket costs.

Contact your local police station as to where you can take this class. Ask them "where in town can I go to take driving defensive class at my local restaurant?"

I got a speeding ticket for the first time and I went to my local pizza parlor and took the driving defensive class and was able to eat for free and pay the person teaching the class like 20 bucks and listen to him for 4-6 hours.

So do this and save yourself; money and point reductions.

Oh, and if you find something like this :Happy Eatings.

Let me know your end result. If you found something or just decided to pay.

As a "starving student who has no money to pay for it", you should not have been speeding. I could even have a little sympathy if you were driving 75 in a 65 or something like that. But 102? That just makes you immature. It may be time to learn consequences in life. At 102 you are lucky it is just a speeding ticket and you did not kill someone and face a life sentence. Last but not least, if you think there is a judge on the planet who is going to let some young student off for driving at that insane rate of speed, I am surprised you have not been tossed out of school already.

that happened to me 3 years ago going 102 on the freeway in kern county the fine was 545 dollars and i had to go there to appear in court it was a 4 hour drive from home they did not let me pay over the phone or send a check, going over 100 mph is consider a misdemeanor they call it "wreck less driving" fine can be from 500 to as much as 2000 dollars depending on the circunstances and the judge, so good luck and try to find a GOOD excuse for driving that fast or dont fight it if you know you can't win. Tell the judge you are sorry, and accept that you were an idiot that night and thank the cop who pulled you over before you killed somebody. that may reduce your fine.

I don't know what its like where you come from but where I come from I always write a letter no matter what. Look at the area you were caught speeding. Does it change from one speed to another in a short space. Have you been booked before etc.. Just build the case send off the letter include the fact that your poor. I think they will appreciate you at least writing and not just ignoring the ticket. I have always in the absolute least gotten a reduced fine or more time to pay.

Unfortuneately your screwed, and you left out a vital point in your question's details.

How fast where you actually going? 102mph?

If you got clocked at 102mph and you were indeed going that fast then you deserve whatever punishments the court decide, you would be a danger to yourself and other innocents.

If it you were NOT going 102mph and for example where going 80mph then you were still speeding but nowhere near as recklessly. You still would have little chance in "my word vs. yours" with a cop.

In any case, just plead your side as objectively and truthfully as you possibly can. Maybe the judge will be lenient if you show that your moral character is good and that it was a momentary lapse that you will not repeat again.

Looks like the first responder is having a bad year.

As for your inquiry. Pay the ticket and be glad you had the chance to do it and aren't in jail. The only good news I can find in this is that if you do not pay the ticket, you do not have to worry about "starving" as you will have three meals a day in jail.

Good Luck!

Be careful, over double the speedlimit is considered attempted suicide. Now you cannot get around it. They clocked you at 102 which means you were going 102 you'll have to appear in court and you CAN contest it but good luck with that.

If you don't go to court and don't pay it you can have your lisence reovoked or end up with a warrant for your arrest. My advice is SLOW DOWN.

Well to be honest, tough luck. I hope you learned your lesson, don't speed at 102 mph, it's dangerous to speed even at 90 mph. Loan/borrow some money from family or a credit union.

Well if you don't have the money to pay it, then you'll just have to go to court on the court date provided on your ticket. And it will be up to you to convince the judge that you cannot afford to pay your
fine. But the judge may not be so kind considering how high your speed was. A word of advice: please don't speed, NOTHING is
worth putting your life in danger! And I'm not trying to be smart ***, I'm just trying to help you out . Good luck my friend.

first off if your going to fight the ticket save your self a day in court and enter a not gilty plea by mail. 2nd study the sites below. with a little luck was it moving radar, laser,(photo ticket), cop gessing your speed? all fairly easy to win in court. no Judicial Notice. good luck.
