Slavery has been around since lazy mankind has been around but to answer your question people back in American slavery days didnt think it was right at first. They knew they were wrong they even alluded to it a few times when they declared their independence from Britian. The plan they had was to gradually send Blacks back to Africa because they feared race wars ( thats how wrong they knew they were) but once they found out that it would cost to much they had to make an excuse or they would feel bad. They knew they were wrong they just wouldnt own up to it and end it because then they would look like jackasses and blacks would have every right to retaliate. People today who say that are just ignorant, chances are they went to a school that didnt teach it.

People are HUMAN.....WE MAKE MISTAKES....BUT no one or just about no one who had anything to do with slavery is even alive today...I had nothing to do with it...I do not feel I should apologise for something I never did. I don't see Americans up in arms over stealing all this land from the Indians and then pretty much killing a whole race off with our deceases..Get a Grip!!!
If I should apologise,it should be to he Indians and If I owed anyone anything it would be them...But I didn't have anything to do with that eather so I Have no guilty conscience about it...Give it up---get over it....STOP for cryin out laud...

the biblg gives rules for keeping slaves. and says clearly that you may keep slaces from neighboring nations.

people never see what is wrong with what they believe in. Christians burnt people at the stake and thought it was just dandy.

romans threw christians to the loins and it was entertainment.

people just want to live in their sheltered little worlds and not have to think about what their actions do to others.

muslims took and bought slaves from africa for a good thousand years before white europeans got in on the act. christianity was not an influence on them. i don't think they would even consider using that "excuse."
