Best advice is NOT to delete anything you are not absolutely sure is no longer needed. DO use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall programs you no longer use. Once you've done that, run the Disk Cleanup Wizard (Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools) to clear off other things that are taking up space.

Folders left behind in the Program Files folder are usually pretty barren. Most ot the time the only thing left is harmless and small. So unless you are desperate for hard drive space, leave them alone.

Hope that helps.

Go to Control Panel then ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS and Remove any programs you don't want.

NOTE: NEVER simply DELETE a program's Folder ALWAYS use UNINSTALL!!

PS: Another way to gain some disk space is to Click on your RECYCLE BIN, then RIGHT CLICK, Click on PROPERTIES, set the percentage to 1% instead of the wasteful Default 10%

Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>

Run both Defragment and Disk Cleanup.

Also uninstall things you don't use...

You can also get a registry cleaner to clean up your registry but I'm not sure of any legit free ones.

What I do every once in a while is back up the stuff I definately want to keep and then just reformat the drive and reinstall windows. You just gotta make sure you have all the relevant drivers for your hardware and a windows boot disk.

If you have Windows XP, click on my documents, delete unused files, then go to control panel and click add or remove programs and delete unused programs.
