If you are using a router, you can simply attach all of the computers to them.
Go to Network Connection in Control Panel and set them up as Home and Office Networking.
Choose Other as option
Then Select the first one on the list.
If you don't have a router, I would try to see if connecting from one computer to another using the same network cable.
Do the same step except choose the Option that allow you to connect computer through another computer. (Token Ring style)
Note: Make sure your file and printer sharing is on and the internal firewall off (not the SP2 firewall). Internal firewall can block any users to access the computer and make causes disruption during the networking process.

So, from the question, both have networking capability at least at the hardware level, so I am going to assume both are already connected to a network and can do things like a Google search. All you need do is "share" resources, in this case, the local hard disk with the network. The can open a big security hole if you forget to assign a password. How you do this depends on what operating system you are running. In Windoze 98, for example, you would clock on My Computer and right click the icon for the drive you want to share, select properties and when the properties opens, click the Share tab, fill in a name, select full access and supply the password which will be neccessaary to access the shared drive. Do this on both machines. Next on each machine, open the Network Neighborhood and you should see both the "self" share by name and the "remote" share by its' name. Select "map network drive" from the toolbar or whereever, and map the share of the remote as a network drive, and when prompted, supply the password. Now, in the file manager, windoze explorer, you can drag and drop from the local to the network drive as you please. Windoze networking makes a remote hard disk act like a local hard disk using this method. The capability to network share resources has been in Windoze since v3.11, Widoze for Workgroups. Depending on the operating system you are using, you mave have to restart the machines to make the shared resources active and available.
