The main difference between Romeo and Mercutio is one is a lover, and the other is a fighter. Mercutio is more of a rockstar wild child, where as Romeo is more subdue, he'd rather stop fighting to save his love.

Romeo is wide-open to the idea of romantic love. Mercutio is a bit of a cynic. He'd rather hang with the boy s, and, frankly, he seems a bit threatened by the fact that Romeo is electing to spend his precious party time with GIRLS.
