1) Self-determination
2) Charisma
3) Constitution
4) Self-knowledge
5) Wisdom
Of course, the order of importance is different for an actual person than it is for "strength of character".

Once one has determined his/her character (that would include values, beliefs, goals and ideals) the strength is apparent when he/she will stand by it. When faced with adversity, even if it means employment jeopardy (or otherwise), a strong person will stand by his/her beliefs. One who is confident will not back down when presented with hardships. There are so many people who "blow with the wind" and take the easy way out for whatever reason: popularity, lack of conflict, lack of stamina.

Perhaps a strong character is defined by a life full of ups and downs, due to the nature of his/her decisions to fight for that which seems unattainable but if one hopes for it, is not.

This jogs my memory of the community Indian music related to the greater youthful boys who went horse-driving. One boy fell off, the others laughed. yet then a splash one buffalo regarded & replaced into approximately to fee the boy. He took the bull by skill of the horns & pushed it. how well a person can stand by their argument. like they dont break if some1 gives them money. they break for a GOOD reason.
