I'm tired of hearing about presidential candidates already. Quite boring because none of them seem appealing to me when there's a war that continues and I know vets who have been to Iraq 2-3 times and are going again. It just isn't right. When they stand at the podiums speaking, all I see is money signs as heads, not people who want to make real changes for everyone in our country.

Yes, it is way too early for the voters to hear all this stuff. That is what I don't like - - the 'politics' of it all. I find it boring as well. It used to not be so bad, until the "money bags" of candidates started buying our opinions. I have heard that compared to several years ago, they used to do the caucus, in one state for one party, another for the other party, etc. Then that being where the caucus is, the parties vote for who they want as the candidate to represent the inidvidual parties. I have heard that this year it's money of the candidates that is doing the talking. And that it seems that which ever one of the candidates has the most money, will probably win the election. Things sure have changed. And, I found out that it's the political parties that pay for the "mud slinging" ads of their candidates. The candidates are just trying to do the right thing. What the candidates NEED TO DO is: state who they are, what their platform is, and not allow the parties mud slinging to go on for their votes. Take care.

Overexposure is a major issue. The presence of Senator Clinton and her enormous fundraising capability in the Democratic race has made it necessary for the entire field to start early. You will notice that the Democratic candidates are a lot more active at this point and that's one of the reasons why. Heck, Senator McCain hasn't even declared yet.

Overexposure and the oppotunities to screw up which active campaigning can help create are two of the factors that might convince former VP Gore to run. Democratic strategists indicate he could join the race as late as September or October and still be a viable candidate, capitalizing on the same election fatigue mentioned above.

Finally, an extended election cycle is the natural outcome of an unpopular lame duck president in an unpopular war.

It is not too early, however it can be risky. The bigger the war chest to spend, the better campaign can be run.

Democrats need to solidify, but once again, that can be risky if the winning candidate makes a mistake after selection.

It is very unfortunate that less financially supported candidates have no hope of being on the ballot regardless of their position on the issues.

I am not a democrat, but I see problems in their camp and that is why they have to start so early especially since they have taken the majority in congress. The American people are giving them a chance to follow through with their promises, and so far it has been less than, "Whoop, there it is!".

The voters always get sick of the politicing every election.
I wish there was a date when they all could start the
campaign which would be closer to election time. This
would even save a ton of money by both parties because
as it is, you must be rich to even run for president, and the
milllions they spend could be spent on really important
other needs of the country. Some things like this need to
be changed.

On the contrary--the issues being on the forefront and the willing agents of change making their policies known is a blessing. The more discussion the more the herd gets thinned and the cream rises to the top. The only way to get out of Iraq and get out of the foreign policy nightmares of Bush is to elect a Democratic Candidate for President and for the Dems to win the majority in the Senate--25 years of horrific conservative policies have taken their toll. Go Dems 08"!!

The most annoying of all the Presidential candidates is Senator McCain who because he was imprisoned at the "Hanoi Hilton" during the Vietnam War feels he's entitled to be President of the United States. For his information, others were imprisoned during that war and even others, such as myself, served in the military but that in and of itself does not entitle one to become President.

Senator McCain should spend more time at Walter Reid Hospital to assure the well being of our wounded military personnel rather than appearing on every television interview and making a fool of himself and demeaning the American people.

Senator McCain appears quite ignorant on all issues and is merely a mouthpiece, cheerleader, and spin machine for the Bush Administration.

Not really. It's good because it puts them on the record for what they're saying and doing which can have great influence on many voters. Some are going to do great while others are going to shoot themselves in the foot. It'll narrow the field down for sure.

Perhaps by starting early they can get all the bullshit & mud slinging out of the way so we can get down to the real issues. At least that's what I'm hoping.
Haven't you noticed that the Christmas season also starts earlier every year?

Idealism doesn't get you elected. Sad but true.

I have yet to see a campaign I wasn't tired of before it got started.
