Public speaking is a process and it takes a lot of practice to be a good public speaker. Practice and repetitive behavior. In other words, practice makes better (no one is perfect, especially, in public speaking). Plus, it helps to fully understand your material. Audiences also gage your competency as a speaker as well as your knowledge of the topic. Be aware of non-fluencies, like um...it makes you appear nervous.

First off, you need to have a good presentation prepared. If you don't like what you're about to present, you can't do it confidently. So be sure that you have good materials ready. Also, just take a little quiet time for yourself before the presentation so you will feel rested and relaxed.

First be well rested, fed and have all your material for the presentation in order and ready to go. Have a second copy just in case. If you are using power point make sure you have your plugs for your machine. If you are using slides make sure you have an extra bulb and your tray is in correct order. Read and reread and then 20 min before hand go to the bathroom and then sit silently and if you pray or meditate and you are ready to go

That's a tough one. As a presenter, and a coach/trainer for others, I can tell you that building confidence is very person specific, although good presentation techniques are not.

The biggest, single tip, I can give you here is know your material and speak from the heart.

Practice. Be well prepared. Give your presentation to yourself and then practice with a few friends or family before you give it formally. Know every word you are going to say and how you are going to say it before you say it in front of an audience. Picturing people naked only works initially, but if you aren't well practiced you wind up standing on the podium with nothing to say in front of a bunch of naked people.

Believe that you are the smartest person in the room. and you are!!!! believe it!! you will do good!! you are the best!! believe it. Look at those in the room and convince yourself you know more about your presentation subject than they ever will. Confidence gal/guy, confidence.

Rebel Yell. It works for those that are about to die.
Other than that, you have to psych yourself out.
Like doing a lot of exercising or deep breaths before hand.

Put on a big fake act - pretend to be someone who is confident. Practice in front of a mirror!
