ATI hands down. nVidia pays a lot for ads, and their hardware is good, but their driver support is getting bad. Vista drivers for nVidia have been aweful. Even thought they have DX10 hardware, they don't even support it yet. ATI usually is much smarter and much more reliable as of lately.

if you want the best card now the 8800 is the way to go. the r600 has been dalyed to Q2 07 meaning it won't be out until the second half of this year. If you can wait see how the r600 performs first. The leaked pics of the r600 show it to be very large and very power hungry. If you upgrade to a r600 then you'll need to upgrade your power supply as well.

I like Nvidia...runs great in my machine. I had an ATI card a couple years ago and it kept blue screening my PC and no matter what driver I loaded it kept doing it so I dumped it and got Nvidia. Never looked back. Some people have good luck with ATI...I was just not one of them.

Go to http://www.tomshardware.com
There should be a review buried somehwere in there. Me personally, I would go with nVidia, although AMD has bought ATI which should mean better performance soon.
