not to cause harm or anything,more out of curiosity? it happened to me with some older kids,i did it as well,i dont know why. i have talked to others and they said they same thing,that they did as well or know people who have. is this normal?

Well from what I understand, the senses of touch and taste are two of the most developed senses in early childhood, hence kids putting all sorts of things in their mouth or touching things in stores (or anywhere for that matter).

It is the easiest way to learn about your world at during the time you are learning to talk and form questions. In terms of 8-12 y/o....hmm...that could be curiosity about others, wondering how similar they each are and what parts are different, especially between boys and girls.

Curiosity. And it is normal to explore one's body as well as the bodies of people around them. I don't see any harm in it except in extreme circumstances such as children simulating sex.
