Many call centers require an online evaluation of your skills before you can even submit an application. Most require drug screening and background checks as conditions of employment. Most will require product/service training, certification, and possibly bonding before you can process calls.

Usually not, at least not reputable ones. There will be a quick assessment (reading out loud and typing if appropriate.) You will normally get called back that afternoon (if a morning interview) or the next morning. You may also have to take a training class during which time you are probationary.

ive worked at several call centers in the Phoenix area and I've never had that happen
