Okay guys and gals, i strongly believe they will not have mutal feelings. I admit i find this aspect of the story my favorite and i would really prefer that they would fall in love. But, She tells Eragon that she does't love him. She says her feelings are that of a friend and nothing more. She also says that this can not be and will not be ever (or something like that). She said these things in the elvish language which means she was not able to lie. I would REALLY LIKE for someone to argue with me and find away around what she said... maybe she is hiding something and decieved Eragon with half-truths. If anyone has any ideas i would really like to have some hope to hold me over until the next book is released!

Great question you've got there. Well, I'm not certain, myself. As a previous answerer commented, Arya did explain why she thought they couldn't be together. And with their age difference... Yuk. Yet, at the same time, I kind of want them to fall in love. Eragon loved her so much, after all. I do wonder how it will work out!
I can't wait for the book to come out. I'm sure it will be great. Christopher Paolini is a fantastic writer, and certainly one of my favourites.

I think they will.
And that she will be the next rider.
Remember that dream Eragon in the first book, with the two dragons, a woman and a man, and a boat, etc - Well I think its them two, since Angela did foretell Eragon will have to leave the country eventually and it seems like a very elvish thing to do - think LOTR.
The age difference doesn't really matter. Since Eragon is practically like an elf, phisically and soon mentally. Plus, I think he will live longer than any other rider, he is supposed to be immortal after all.

Maybe they already are in love (Eragon certainly seems to be) and Arya is just using excuses so that she doesn't make herself seem vulnerable. Sorry, it's probably a really weak analysis but so what? :~) Now them getting together; that's completely different. I wont comment on that because the age thing rather creeps me out, but I hope you all come up with something good.

I hope they do...it seems like they should , love seems to prevail no matter what (in stories and movies anyhow)
Well, they better...it would make the third book a whole lot more interesting... I read eragon but not eldest...yet, its always out so i can never get it...

If it's anything like the first two this Arya character will fall in love with Eragon's brash, hotshot friend, and Eragon will probably be revealed to be her brother or something.

Heck no...if you research deep into the internet, you'll find a site that tells you about the third book...if that site is correct then eragon falls in love with another rider: they hold hands under their dragons...

It would too predictable of an ending and something that we all want to happen, so i don't think that they will.
However, he may find someone before the books are over.
I can't believe we have to wait so long to read on... I'm 2 eager to continue!
