I usually listen to my iPod with the volume up 3/4 to all the way. I now hear ringing in my ears when it gets real quiet, but it's on and off. I just listened to some songs on my iTunes that I listened to before and now it hurts my ears but before I was fine, it seemed almost too quiet before. It felt almost like a constant painful wind blowing in my ears along with the music. =(

It's iffy. You could have done some damage to your hearing. Especially if you wear the ear buds, 'cause it amplifies the sound even more.

And about the painful wind: you could have put a hole in your ear drum.

But, regardless, you should go and get your hearing checked, just in case.

There are a LOT of different types of damage to the hearing that can be done and you can do several simultaneously.

With all the experience that I can bring upon the situation as a DJ for 20+ years...YES, you have damaged your hearing.

The effect will be more severe in the short term than the long term, but they will be permanent.

Go to a doctor, and a good one. Most doctors are pretty clueless about hearing loss to be honest. I have seen a lot of it among my colleagues.

Rest your ears...part of the damage is "traumatic" and that is significantly improved by rest...especially the "ringing" bit.

In Europe and Japan there are limiters on iPods to prevent them damaging hearing. It is very possible to damage hearing with iPods.

Seriously dude, ive been listening to loud music for 30 years, and it has done some damage to my hearing, but my ears dont have any symptoms like yours. that doesnt sound good. I know after the last Slayer concert i saw, my ears rang for 2 days, but then it got better. definitely I'd ask a hearing doctor if it keeps up.

NO WAY you need the stand right next to a spaceship taking off in order to lose your hearing. its just mind over matter

probaly so... since the sound waves are going directly into your ear drum and they dont have anything to bounce off of or float in space(aka stereo and car stereo)

i assumed I had study the question incorrect the first 6 circumstances! it really is a unusual evaluation question, yet hey, i love both songs. "listening to harm" is a fine looking music, yet "mind harm" is a classic. i go with Floyd.
