I recently resigned from an extremely stressful job in the sales management field and have exploring 2nd career options. I have not yet identified what I am interested in doing but I do know that I want to find a career that is NOT stressful. I am interested in knowing which jobs/careers are those with the least amount of stress?

If you work in a job or career that you do not consider to be stressful I'd love to hear about your experience. Thanks!

Stress is a natural byproduct of caring about your work and trying to do the best for your company. Any interesting job will have SOME stress. Coming off a high-intensity stressful career, I would advise you to be careful not to overreact and sell yourself short by looking for a zero-stress situation.

Find something you are interested in and passionate about. Make that a career.

A great resource that I used when I was in something like your situation is Dan Miller's book "48 Days to the Work you Love". Check it out on Amazon.

The job that causes the least stress is the one that is the best fit for you. All jobs have inherent stress, and we can create our own stress.

A good career counsellor can help you to find a job that is a good fit for you, but you have to be willing to do some of the work yourself. You may also need re-training.

Try to come up with about 3 different types of jobs you think you would like to do, research them on the internet, and see if you can do 3 information interviews with people who are in each of those lines of work.
