Antarctica is the southern most continent. It is composed of 98% ice which is atleast 1.6km thick. It is the fifth largest continent and has extreme temperatures which can reach a bone chilling 90 degrees centigrade below zero.
If you are looking for the southern most continent with permanent settlement, it would be Australia.
