Cultural diversity is helpful for social progress. Each cultural group comes from a certain part of the world. From living in that part of the world for a long period of time, they have developed their own unique wisdom. The greater diversity of wisdom, the more solutions you have in your "solution manual". So, for each problem that arises, the more potential answers to solve it.

Yes it is necessary for social progress. Society is ever changing. People need to be educated about the beliefs and cultures of others in order to better understand the world.
