hi. i play rhythm guitar in a local band that just became quite popular. i CAN play lead, but its just that the other guy plays it better than me so he is the lead guitarist. the other day a kid approached me and said "youre JUST the rhythm guitarist". i felt kinda bad. are rhythm guitarists "JUST" that? I dont feel that necessary anymore.

haven't you ever heard of Keith Richards??? He's like a total jesus and he plays rythm. John Lennon also played rythm. As a guitar player, I prefer lead since it gives you more room to improvise and explore your creativity!
