Wow, this took a few minutes. The Aussies would call it a barbie as all english is sometimes called broken english but, here in the states, it is a southern term related to establishments "Bar" "Beer"& "Cues"(pool). Hence, over time it was broken down to barbecue. The "Q" in Aussie form is of unknown origin. Perhaps over times of travel from one country to the next "Q" was probably shortened from "cue".
