Certainly not all towns, hospitals, schools etc. are equal....but I mean the equal chance to succeed in life as the rest of Americans. If they do have equal opportunities to succeed, why haven't they taken advantage of them as often as they should? If they don't, then who/what is keeping them down? Are more social programs needed to help blacks out? If so, what programs should we give them? I live near Newark, which has every social program ever invented implimented there, and it is a dump. How come? I don't mean to make this a political issue as much as I'm just trying to get real answers to solve these problems.

It is a political issue, and a racial issue, but most importantly it is an ECONOMIC issue, and the unfortunate answer to your initial question is that blacks don't have an equal opportunity to succeed in America, irregardless of what they think. In truth no minority, and incredibly most whites don't have equal opportunity to succeed either. The social system in the United States is so lopsidedly slanted to the ultra rich it is beyond a disgrace.

The color that has the opportunity slanted in it's favor my brother is green. In American 2% of the population control almost 90% of the wealth. The 200 richest people in America have a higher income than the lowest 50,000,000 (fifty million, 8 to 12 million of which are illegal aliens). Poverty limits the opportunity people have, and it is difficult to escape from it.

No we don't have equal opportunities to succeed. But we don't need more programs. We need to come out of our graves spiritually before any program will help us (not all black people, but indigent blacks). The problem is we need to stop believing stereotypes and American lies about us and start loving ourselves. Before any of this can happen, we need to stop abandoning our children. These comments are only about the people they apply to.

What could be done to help is for people to start judging us individually rather than collectively. That is the main problem. We are judged by how someone else acts by people who don't know the individual they are judging. Stop judging by speech, dress, hair style, etc. Get to know the person before you just. That would be the most beneficial thing you could do for us.

We have the best chance we've had since the beginning. I live in Colorado, so I guess I can't comment on what's happening in NJ.

I know no one wants to hear this but there is still some racism out there.
