I have always lived near trains.
My family also worked on trains, so when I don't hear them, like in the winter I sleep lighter.
In the summer I also hear the sounds of Loons, so I find train a quit soothing sound.

I am about 1/2 block from train tracks and there is a train just about every 6 minutes- no lie! I don't mind them they remind me of when I was smaller and took a train from MI to IA with my grama-but they sort of PMO now when I have the windows open in the summer and am watching one of my fave shows!!!

I don't, but I have a friend who does. Everytime I go to a study group at her little house near campus, the train drives by atleast once, and when the tracks rattle, the house begins to shake. Her prized glass dolphin statue came crashing down and broke once! And it scared the livin...crap out of us!

There's one about half a mile from here. I love the sound of the cars rumbling along the track or the whistle blowing. I've always thought of trains as romantic.

the tracks are not too close but at night when it is quiet I can hear the train go by in the distance, it always makes me feel safe for some reason
