I'm 11 weeks pregnant, and about 3 weeks ago i run out of folic acid supplements. Do i need to take one everyday right through until i give birth? Will the baby be ok, as i haven't had folic acid for 3 weeks??

It is not dangerous if you go without folic acid for a certain time......but you should take it everyday and be consistant if you want your baby to have the best start in life...because its proven that taking folic acid or a prenatal vitamin before and during pregnancy decreases your baby's chances of neurological disorders by 29%, decreases their chances of leukemia by 37 % and decreases their chances of neuroblastoma (type of cancer) by 49%............so its well worth it

I agree with what the others say. If you don't have it in pill form, Orange Juice is a great source of folic acid. My husband made sure I drank at least a glass day when I was pregnant.

Congrats!!

its not necessary but it helps a lot with growth for you and your unborn child, the doctors prefer that you take them but nothing horrible will happen if you dont.
