GBA SP is better because of a light, rechargeable battery, flip screen, bigger screen, and it is smaller! unfortunately, it has no headphone set (which they improved in the DS). the regular GBA I would only recommend if your hurting on cash or prefer something more like a controller. hope this helps!
PS: if cash isnt a problem, than you should buy the DS, it can play all the GBA games!

Gameboy Advance SP is way better than regualr Gameboy Advance. It is more compact and easier to store. It still allows you to play both Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games. It has a built in light so you cant break the light by accident(unless you break the screen...). It also has many ad-ons and special boxes 'n stuff for your choice of gaming. Though i would recommend getting the Nintendo Ds. It lets you play Gameboy Advance games, has Internet(if your near a source), has a chat function, and it has cool, touchscreen games. Also, it has built-in lights, a talking hole (for games such as nintendogs, to call your dog), allows you to make your own profile (Age, gender, etc...), and it has a built-in alarm clock. Have fun.

Game boy Advance SP it has a light the game boy advance has no light, but right now the DS Lite is better. It has better light and you can play both DS games and Game boy Advance Games.

gameboy sp is the best it screen lites up and u can close it so it stays clean.

I think u should buy sp because it is smaller,has a brighter screen and it has more exiciting game titles.I also own a sp
