I'm tired of digging out the vacuum cleaner to do the area rug. It gets covered in dog fur (golden retriever) so fast and also cat fur. Do those carpet sweepers (not electric) work on this type of stuff? I want to know before I buy one.

I have a very old well made Bissel ( its make out of wood) and a newer carpet sweeper. Neither work well on pet hair. Actually they don't work well at all. They cant 'pull' the hair (and dirt) up. If you want to go over a small area a dozen times i suppose the hair will mostly come up, I'm not that patient. And I think the lint rollers cost to much to use each day. We have many pets, so i decided that everyone would have to just get used to the vacuum being out. It sits just behind a large house plant. Hope this helps.

The carpet sweeper will not pick up the animal hair unfortuantely. In my experience it will onyl pick up dust, not much else. Save your money, and just use a normal vacuum. Happy cleaning!

Scotchbright has a roller that you can buy that has a sticky roll kind of like a lint roller. This works pretty well for pet hair on carpets. I clean houses and one of my ladies has one. On hardwood floors I use a swiffer dry, and spray a dusting spray on the cleaning cloth and that works wonderfully at pulling pet hair off of hardwood floors.

well best way to remove pet hair from the carpet is big brush, (not toothbrush) brush which they use in scrubbing tile or floor. this has a very good affect, brush on to the carpet and all the hair will be collected, you can use it also in the sofas or clothing.

I had one, and they don't do much. I just use the vacuum cleaner.
