Some top university has slot especially reserved for community college students. So I want to ask if its easier to transfer from a average college (such as Rutgers, American University, Stony Brook, Boston University, etc) or your local community college to a top university (such as NYU, BC, Michigan, Virgina, Florida, UCLA, etc). Thx for the reply

It's almost always easier to transfer from a community college. You have to remember why colleges keep spots for transfers. Most of the time, they're doing it for people who show excellence, but for a variety of reasons, didn't have to opportunity to go to a top school right out of high school.

Maybe they couldn't afford tuition for a couple years or whatever. Something forced them to stay home and go to community college for a while. Well, now they have a chance to show they kicked butt there and deserve a shot at a top university.

A lot of it is finances or just a rough upbringing. If you went to an average college, the top ones consider it another 4 yr university that will give you that college degree to help in life, so why take a spot away from someone coming from a community college?

Is it impossible to transfer from an average college? Of course not. Just realize that there usually aren't that many slots for transfers and that the majority go to community college transfers.

Rutgers accepts very few transfers from other colleges.
