What kind of novels are for young women?

Science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, romance, mystery.

NOT true crime or horror.

I also liked older biographies when I was a teen. Not the modern stuff, though.

It depends on the young woman - whatever she likes to read is for her. Some authors write books aimed at a particular audience, such as young women, but they don't necessarily say that on the cover and these works span all different genres.
