well first of all, you have to remember,,,, that average height and weight are just that,,,,,,, there are people who are above and below it,,,, and some at it,,,,,,, also, when considering weight, you have to consider bone size, and if the person has had their puberty growth spurt,,, which for women can, but not always,,,, occurs around the same time as their periods,,,,, but now days, with girls starting periods earlier,,,,, there is often a delay,,,,,,,
make sure and eat a balanced diet, even take a One a day vitamin for teens or women,,,,,,, and if you are not yet 16 or 17,,,, give it time,,,,,, growth hormones are most often only used in very serious situations,
with all that said, its really hard without knowing your height, weight , and age,,,,,, and your family history (heights of parents, grandparents, even great grands, to know if you are about at where you should be

How old are you?
If possible you should speak with the family doctor about your worries or to a school nurse.

There are some very bad side effects to the growth hormone.

I know a guy who at 17 thought hed be a short person all his life- he was just over 5' tall and thin. But When he graduated high school he was 6'1" tall.... He had faith and prayed and now that he is a bit older he also came to a realization--
However tall or short he might be, he was happy because he was himself and height didn't make him a better person or man, it only made him taller not happier and all that he needed to enjoy his life was to have and value his life...and those around him for who they were as well.

May I ask how old you are hun? Did your dr do a check for hormone imbalances?

The reason I ask the second question is because depending on the kind of insurance one has it is often required that all testing start with a primary care physician to see if and when an endocrinologist is needed.

It's genetics, sweetie. Hormone shots are for serious problems and aren't taken lightly either by doctors, specialists or patients. For girls they usually arent even considered unless you have specific growth problems, like your body won't start puberty by 17 or 18. So I wouldn't push, unless it's something serious.

I'm small myself, under average height, under average weight with the wrist size of an average 10 year old. And it's fun, I may not have the biggest boobs in the world, but I still get noticed, though on a sidenote birth control did make them grow and as I'm college they're starting to grow again. But there are great things about being small, you can still buy kid's clothes (which are cheaper!), get tons of piggyback rides, and guys love small girls.

So put things in perspective and if you're that concerned about it discuss it with your doctor, because they know what's medically sound!

If u were born premature it is highly possible that u r where ur suppose to be for u, but under for ur normal age. that's still OK. Also don't get mad at ur mom. Maybe she doesn't know about growth hormones, and maybe she is Right in thinking that u just need to wait. everyone develops at a different age. If ur a little under for ur age that is perfectly normal. Seems to me that if u were a lot under then the Dr. would have already informed ur mother of what she needs to do.

Need more info. But usually hormones are used for people with severe stunted growths. If you are a little underweight and height, the doctors will not do anything. Plus, many don't want to give hormone shots to just anyone. Also your regular doctor may just want to play the wait and see game. You sound like you are pissed you are short. I was too, but there isn't anything you can do about it unless you are severely stunted.

Tell your mom to prove she's right she needs to take you to an endo! Actually, there absolutely are growth hormone shots and I happen to take them daily. But, they are not just for someone who is short, they are for people who are deficient in gh which is vital at any age. Its a simple blood test (IGF1) that can be done by any Dr., but its best done by an endo because most Drs don't understand results (low normal is not necessarily good).

Maybe she is crazy, look it up on line and show her.No money,no insurance. And there is treatment for people.Forget what I said I went back and looked at some of the questions you been asking.Maybe you need to stop worrying about what you got, don't know how old you are but girls grow until they are 19 or 20,personally I like short women my wife is 5ft 1 in just stop worrying let mother nature work you will grow and be beautiful,if things are not big as you want when you are an adult then get them fixed but for now stop worrying.

give it some time, enjoy your youth to the fullest it only comes one in a lifetime. You might be a late bloomer it one day you will wake up with everything in proportion. Taking medicine is not a joke. And your mom is right for thinking the way she is. Look at your family tree on your mom and your dad side and see if it is hereditary.

You didn't say how old you were or how tall you were etc. Growth hormones are for serious problems only so I can see why your mother won't take you. I woudn't take you either unless it was something your regular doc felt was necessary for you. You didn't say that you regular doc felt you needed these shots. These are not shots for just any one who isn't as tall as other these are for people who have a medical disorder that is causing them to be short.
