all superstitions are bizarre.. and following/believing in them is bizarre-er.
one of superstitions i know is letting the faucet on while celebrating the new year (so that blessing will overflow, or something like that).. i think it's wasting resources. and also, spending lots of money for firecrackers (which brings lots of people to the hospital).. what a way to celebrate the new year... sheesh...

In my mothers country, they believed in White (good) and Black (bad) dwarfs. They are invisible and if you stand on a black one they'll curse you, good ones will take you away if you wish you could see one.
Can't win hey? Biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard.
