i am writing a story and i need a name for a city and or town for the characters to live in. it can be made up or a real city and or town, i just can't think of anything right now, thanx for the help!!

my story has characters that live in a rich and poor society, where like one side of the town is rich and the other side not as rich, but yea. does that help? u can ask me to add more details.

There is a Buffalo in nearly every state as well as a Washington or a Jackson. If all else fails, take a walk through your local cemetary and pick a name. Great place to get character names, too. Pay attention to the birth dates because that will tell you when that name was popular.

This depends a *lot* on the sort of story you're writing. A fantasy story city might have a very different sort of name than the city in a western or in a science fiction story or in a contemporary romance story.
That being said, how about Winterville?

Nansen would be a great name.
It woild be named after the Nansen passport for more information see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nansen_passport
It was a passport for refugees and people whose nations dissolved while they were abroad, thus making them stateless.
The reason it would make a good name? The name would represent it as a town for people with no where else to go and no longer belong where they came from.
I'd think that make it a romantic notion, don't you think?

How about Catalonia ? Oceana ? Ocean City ? Victoria ?
