If I buy the flag, then it is my flag, so If I burn it, It is my loss, and the company that made the flag can sell me another one to burn can't they.

In some countries they must have a stack of flags soaked in paraffin ready for any political event. I think however it is silly to get upset a seeing some idiot burn a piece of fabric - Nike do not sue me every time I plaster their logo in mud, they are happy to sell me the trainers. Likewise, I am sure that Reebok are delighted that I spilt paint onto my working clothes, and Pierre Cardin delighted to discover I set light to one of their logos last summer whilst barbecuing fish.

There are too many silly rules and laws, without introducing one that would be impossible to police, and may put flag manufacturers out of business as well.

If a nation is so enraged at seeing their flag burned by another nation, then they should not have invaded that nation - and plastered the thing up all over the shop - in the first place - should they. It is a better protest than burning ambassadors don't you think!

First of all burning the American flag is illegal. It can be burned in a ceremony to be put at rest. That first answer is a good one we shouldn't be burning any ones flags.

Wow, I'll bet you're going to get a lot of uneducated responses just like this one from David who knows nothing about this countries involvement in Iraq. Anyone who has been there and seen mass graves with children in them would have more of an understanding about Iraq before we got there. Anyone who has fought along side the Iraqi soldier, who fights for his own freedom, would understand where the country is going. The fact is the US serviceman has fought and died to preserve the freedoms Americans enjoy, and very obiously, take for granted. So, if an American wants to burn this "piece of cloth" they might as well find a WW2 vet and spit on him for keeping the Nazi flag out of America.

It is a piece of cloth. Burning it is a valid protest against the policies of the American government. If Americans want to make flag burning illegal in the USA I presume they will make it illegal to burn any flag. The rest of the world will ignore them and burn flags where and when they choose.

The burning of any flag should be discouraged whether its American, Brazilian, French, or any other. A national flag represents a country and its pride and should never be disrespected.
