I started my period for the first time yesterday, and I am really heavy flowing today! and It's kind of scaring me bcause im 14 and 5/6 and 124 lbs (last time i checked) and I am relatively skinny, but I go through like 4 heavy pads and 4 regular tampons which when pulled out, are completely soaked, (i left them in for about 3-5 hrs)luckily i wear pads under my tampons, and usually that has lots of blood on it too. I just don't think its normal for me to be bleeding this heavily. Advice?

In general, I don't think it's so unusual for a first time having a heavy flow or having a scant flow.
But, it does sound like yours is excessive and worrisome. Check with several female relatives about their flows, esp. the first few times bc there may be a family pattern which would be reassuring.
Otherwise, definitely go to your doctor--an OB/Gyn would be most preferred--for a check up and a chat. You may not have one at your age, so ask your mom or other female relative who they see and go or ask them to take you.
Also, you can go to Planned Parenthood on your own for a reduced fee; it's a good, safe, and supportive place to go for healthcare (gynecological and later contraceptive) needs.
Alternatively, consider a acupuncture which would work well in a situation such as yours (preferably see someone who specializes in gynecologic problems). Their herbs and/or needles will help correct, tone, and balance your body, your homones, and gynecological system for more reasonable flows.
It's unnerving, esp. for your first time, but it will be okay and you will be okay.

try using super tampons, leave them in for only 3 hours. stick with the pad too. sorry this just life..but if you talk to your doctor he\she may be able to give you something to lighten it. But unfortunately they usually give out the pill, But on the good side of that the pill will help with cramps & PMS if you have any.

When I was younger my periods were so heavy, it was ridiculous. Now I'm 22 and their not as bad but I still have heavier periods than most of my friends. Buy o.b. ultra tampons. They kick *** for heavy flows.

its NORMAL!! welcome to periods lol . some people have real bad cramps just hope u dont get them . THATS THE WROST PAIN I EVER FELT! but it only last for some hours . and exercising will make ur period heavier . and for the cramps , so u wont get them as bad if u do get them . Like a week before ur period drink water and not caffiene. it HELPS! but good luck !
