There's a lot of new developments in Cavite. But I would probably get a house in Carmona. It's exactly midway between Makati and Tagaytay City. It's easily accesible to the South Luzon Expressway and Skyway to get to Makati.

I live in Cavite, and while I do like it here, it is an absolute ***** to get to the city (or get away from it) during rush hours. Decide what's more important to you: your family will probably be better off here, but it will make it harder to get to work.
If I'm going to be busy in the city for any length of time, as in a full work day or longer, I often spend the night there. Traveling back and forth is that big a headache. It's a little better if you stay more in the Carmona/Molino area and can use the SLEX, but not much (I'm usually stuck with the Coastal Road, yuck).

We are building in a village in New Manila, Quezon City. 30 minutes (without traffic via EDSA) to Makati. I love it there (close to Greenhills, Cubao, Eastwood, St. Lukes Hospital), however it is not as high end an area as the areas south of Makati. It was important to us to have a house instead of a condo as we wanted to be able to have a backyard, front yard, and (small) pool.

Because of recent problems with floods, I wouldn't recommend that you live outside the city if you want to be close to your business. Typhoons, traffic, floods can hamper your mobility if you live in suburban areas. You have to find a compromise. Why not consider a condominium in Fort Bonifacio? At least some areas in the Fort are still as close to nature as you can get in Makati.

Tagaytay is not too far from the city, definitely has a good view and vibe (since you want to be near 'nature'). The price shouldn't be too high, unless you want the best view. and the community is friendly. The traffic might be a problem though.

Or you can just look for a condo in The Fort.
