I've wondered for my chemistry class how does bubble gum pop?

As you blow the bubble, the internal air pressure of the bubble increases and causes the walls of the gum to expand outwards, making the bubble even bigger. Eventually, the sides of the bubble become too thin to hold the internal air pressure and the bubble burst. Normally the bubble will burst with such force that it literally blows a hole in the bubble, much the same way as an inner will. It is the sudden release of air and the fragments of the bubble hitting against the surrounding air that causes the popping sound.

haven't taken that class, but I think the bubble cannot counter the force of the air pressure inside, or expand, once it has completely stretched out and is just one (insert unit of measure) away from popping.
