I want facts, and why. Don't just say it's your favorite. You have to tell me why. I've never played before but I do want a nice one.

An Ovation acoustic guitar is probaby the best acoustic out there....thats my opinion.

A Gibson Les Paul original is probaby the best electric guitar out there....again,thats my opinion.

Many might disagree with me but thats my opinion judging from playing many in a music store.

Why? Ive played alot of different types and my likes are my likes

Want my opinion on what to by as a FIRST guitar? An acoustic,Id look for something inexpensive and ask a friend who plays guitar to go down to the music store together to buy one.A reasonably priced "decent"acoustic guitar should go for 150-200 dollars. Then,go home and practice with that friend basic chords.Good luck!

Id like to add something extra.......You might not WANT to play an acoustic guitar, being indifferent to the TONE it puts out.Keep in mind that all great guitarists,or should I say probably most, started out playing an acoustic guitar. You can play ANY guitar song on an acoustic,it doesnt HAVE to be electric. Its an excellent choice to start off with in the beginning.Dont be a fool and throw down $800 on an electric and $500 on an amp because you want to learn on something cool. After you have learned a good deal on an acoustic, you'll know when your ready for an electric.

Well, there simply is no "best", and you have to think about how much you want to spend. You could probably find a 1950's Gibson Les Paul that many would consider the "best", but it might cost you more than 10 grand. Do you want to play rock? You could try to find a Gibson SG, they're not too big or heavy, they're relatively easy to play, and they sound just awesome.

guitars that play easily and are comfortable and don't weigh too much are the best ones to go for.PRS,Carvin, Parker and stratocasters fit the bill for me.the necks and body shapes of these guitars are good.the only complaint i have of strats are the bolt on neck heel.if they were set or neck through they would be better.
