No, you will make them not as absorbant. The petroleum blocks the wicking of the tampon.

That would be something that i would ask my Obgyn. I wouldnt think that it would be safe, but who knows. If you used anything i would use something that is appropriate for that area (KY) I dont know, i have never heard of this before, but i can understand why you do it. Are you using the wrong size? the ones you may be using might be too big, and that is why they wont go in. You should try a smaller size and see if that works. Try Platex Gentle Glide, they work pretty well, or tampax pearl. I hope i have helped. Jes

Not really, but it depends on whether you are putting Vaseline on the actual tampon or plastic/cardboard aspect of it. If on the actual tampon, well, you could get an infection. Vaseline will promote bacterial growth. Try an actual lubricant instead.

If you need lubrication, I suggest using KY jelly or the like. Vaseline can be a bit abrasive to your insides.
Also, use just a little bit. You don't want to gunk up the tampon and keep it from absorbing what it's supposed to.

It would be better to use a water soluble jelly like KY,found In any drug store or Wal-mart,Vaseline will interfere with the absorption capabilities of the tampon, causing a "accident" etc. Take care. SW RNP

It will absolutely interfere with the tampon's ability to absorb, but also consider that Vaseline is not water soluable so if it's also coating your insides, I would imagine that could cause some problems too. Maybe you need to try a smaller size.

i don't think it's a good idea, vaseline sticks to the wall of your vagina and may cause infections. use a water based lubricant like ky jelly on the applicator, but if you are using non-applicator tampons, i think it would just affect the absorbency of the tampon.

No, don't do that please. If you're having trouble inserting your tampon then maybe you are using too high an absorbency. Try a smaller one, and insert it when the blood is already flowing. Relax and take your time doing it. Whatever you do, don't try to lubricate yourself down there with petroleum jelly anynore.

No use KY Jelly instead. Vaseline does not disolve in water, but KY jelly does. Vaseline will coat the tampon and make it not be as absorbant. Vaseline is not healthy for your vagina. And if you are sexually active, vaseline will break down a condom and make it not make your protected from getting pregnant

This is how I was taught to put them in, and since Vaseline is water soluble, you shouldn't have any problem. At least when I started using them, I didn't have a problem. My daughter just started and I am teaching her the same thing.

Hope this helps.
