I have large amounts of discharge daily, bad enough to have to wear a panti-liner almost every day and an extremely heavy period and horrible cramps.
Should I see a gynecologist and/or consider taking birth control pills?

There is an itching problem along with it.

Sounds like you have a bacterial infection, particularly since you don't mention irritation or itching. See a ob/gyn and get a pab smear. It's not normal to have that much discharge.

I have ALOT of discharge to ! and my cramps are HORRIABLE! but my period usually is heavy the 1st day and then its ok . The period thing is normal . Some people have cramps and some dont . and how much u bleed is different for people . The discharge thing well u might have a yeast infection. i have this site that shows u a picture of one . if u want it just email me or write it under ur additional details . But i think i need to go to the doctor about my discharge also . I am going to read what people write on this question cuz i would like to know whats wrong with me . GOOD QUESTION!! and how old r u ?

If there is a itching problem u have a yeast infection most likely ! and people are saying to take birthcontrol to help stop ur period. Well what ever u do dont take depo THERE IS A LOT OF HORROR STORIES! good luck !

Sounds like you have an infection of some sort. You can get an over the counter med like Monistat for yeast infections and see if that clears it up.

Or better yet, since this sounds like it's been going on for quite some time, go to the OB/Gyn for definitive testing for infections and for STD's.

The heavy periods and cramps are a totally separate issue and require a different answer/solution. Your doctor can help with that, as can an acupuncturist.

Yes, you should see a gynecologist or a primary care physician about this issue (the reason I say primary care physician is because some insurance plans require the patient to do so before seeing any specialists).

Its normal to have discharges especially when ovulating, but not bad enough to wear a panty liner. (I don't think)
But if you are having really heavy bleeading and bad cramps, I would definitely go see a gyno.

Good Luck.

It might be a good idea to see a gynecologist. they have low hormone birth control that can help with heavy periods and cramps. I went on Seasonel and it has helped so much with my cramps.

Yes. There's probably nothing wrong with you but a gyno can give you options as to how to ease your cramps and lighten you period.

i would see the gyno just to be sure that it is normal for you and that way you could work something out and youll now everything is fine or you can fix what is happening to you. good luck :)
