I remember reading how in the Great Depression, how farmers would throw away their crops to rebel against the price drops they encountered . What was their reasoning for this?

Any other times?

In 1920, wheat was selling fr $2.20 a bushel, and everybody plowed grass lands to grow wheat, more or less causing the "Dust Bowl". By 1931, wheat was selling for $.20/busheland they could't sell it. It cost more to plant it than harvest it. The grass lands were gone for the cattle to feed on.
